Earth Day Celebrates 40th Anniversary – April 22, 2010

Earth Day has helped shape the current age of sustainability, which brings together the triple bottom line of economic prosperity, environmental excellence, and social equity. A popular way of celebrating Earth Day each spring is to plant a tree in a public place. Communities throughout the U.S. participate in tree planting programs to raise awareness about the environment on Earth Day. Taking the lead to show their support of this special day and in conjunction with Arbor Day, the Tracy Rotary Club will be digging in to make a difference.

On April 24th, a gathering of Tracy Afternoon Rotarians equipped with work gloves and shovels will converge on the Tracy Sports Complex to plant trees. They will be planting at least eight badly needed shade trees to beautify the area while aiding the environment and making athletes and spectators more comfortable.
